Saddle fit is extremely complicated, using a fitter that knows your horse is always the most ideal. If you don't have a fitter we can help. Refer to saddle selection help page and submit details via the forms. We can not recommend suitable saddles from a phone conversation. If we need to discuss anything with you we will contact you after we receive your form.
  • I live in an area where there are no fitters, what can I do, can you guide me?"
We are happy to assist as much as possible with both selecting suitable saddles and advising how they fit when you receive them. We sugest reading the saddle fitting guide for some background information about key saddle fit points to consider.
  • I don't want to do templates and pictures but still need help selecting a saddle, can you help?"
Simple answer is NO! Long answer is, its impossible to guide you without all the relevant information, a verbal conversation about the horse or rider will never give all the information needed. The small amount of information given in a conversation is enough to use the filters on the website and select the correct seat size, gullet width etc. you can do this yourself.
  • Can I talk to someone about what saddles might suit my horse?
Its not possible to recommend saddles from a phone chat, refer to our saddle selection help page for how we can help.
  • I don't have access to a scanner, can I send a photo of the template?"
No a photos can not be printed as an exact copy of the original. Most printers are scanners so finding a scanner is not usualy difficult, most businesses, libraries, post offices and most homes have a printer/scanner. If you have a mobile phone or Ipad you can use the Adobe scan app, its free to use.
  • Can I use a scanning app?
The only scanning app we have found to be accurate is Adobe scan this is free to use. Do make sure to hold the camera directly above the paper to ensure you get an accurate image. If you use any other app print a copy yourself, lay it over your original template and check that it sits directly on top of the original templates lines, even if it sits out by .5cm it will give us the wrong angle. .5cm is a gullet size, so accuracy is important.
  • I want to send pictures and templates how do I do this?
The saddle selection help page has a video and a printable guide
  • I need to do a template to check what gullet width I need, how do I do this?

  • I am local, can you come out to fit my horse?"
Saddle Central works with local fitters, we can organise an independent local fitter to come to you, to check the fit of a saddle you have ordered or if you want to try multiple saddles we can arrange for them to take several saddles out to you to try. The fitters are independent, we do not pay them and there is no financial reward for them selling our saddles, they will therefore charge you for this service. If you'd like multiple saddles taking out we will require pictures and a template from you so we can select suitable saddles, refer to the saddle selection page. This is a simple process and we have easy to follow guides. If you don't wish to do this yourself we can arrange for a fitter to do it for you but this extra visit just to do the initial measuring will incur a standard fitting consult fee from the fitter.
